American Horror Story…Season One was phenomenal. Ground breaking. Intriguing. Fabulous writing. Exemplary acting. When they announced a second season, I was ecstatic. Then, I found out the premise…An Asylum in 1964. I mean seriously, what could go wrong?
EVERYTHING! Now, when the season began, it started off strong. Just enough darkness and storyline to keep one interested. Then, as the season progressed, the train derailed. Too many storylines and characters pulling into too many different directions. Alien abductions. Possessions. A serial killer. Nazis. Mutant cannibals in the woods. A lunatic Santa Claus. A nun with a drinking problem. A reporter wrongfully committed. So on and so on.
Just as with Season One, I expected all of the storylines to link back somehow and somewhere. In the end, I was let down. It wasn’t the characters or storylines that ended up driving the season, but just the location. How disappointing to find out that the only reason we had all of these people experiencing all of these things was simply because they happened to be in the same location!
And the finale…Really? That was the best they could do? I honestly checked my DVR to make sure I had not missed an episode between number 12 and the finale. That couldn’t be it! Did some other writer pop in to give us the bland season finale scenario…And this is what happened to our characters later? Apparently.
So much potential…Such a big let down. American Horror Story: Asylum is a classic example of what looks good on paper, may not necessarily transfer well onto the screen. This is unfortunate. I went into this season expecting big things. Now they are already discussing Season Three…
I think that concept just might be HORRIFIC enough for America…
That’s nice…JM
